No More Room in Hell 2 — Troubleshooting & Fixes

Crashes on startup, Easy Anti-Cheat failures, GPU crash dumps and dead voice chat are the most common No More Room in Hell 2 problems after 1.0. Here are the fixes that actually work, in priority order.

Game Crashes on Startup

If the game crashes immediately after pressing Play, freezes on a black screen, or drops back to desktop, work down this list:

  1. Verify game files (highest success rate). Steam: right-click the game → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity. Epic: Library → three-dot menu → Manage → Verify.
  2. Disable overlays — Discord, GeForce Experience and similar overlays commonly crash Unreal Engine games.
  3. Run as administrator — set the game exe to "Run this program as administrator" and disable fullscreen optimizations in its Compatibility tab.
  4. Update your GPU driver — Nvidia players specifically reported hitching that driver updates fix.
  5. Disable XMP/EXPO — unstable RAM overclocks are a frequent source of UE crashes.

Easy Anti-Cheat Errors

Many crashes happen right after the Easy Anti-Cheat splash screen, which points at EAC failing to communicate with Windows. Try:

  • Temporarily disable Core Isolation → Memory Integrity in Windows Security.
  • Add the game folder to your antivirus exclusions (Norton, Avast, McAfee and Bitdefender are known to quarantine game files after big updates).

Voice Chat & Mic Not Working

Proximity voice chat is core to the game's communication. If teammates can't hear you:

  • Check that your default microphone is set correctly in Windows Sound settings.
  • Confirm push-to-talk vs open mic in the game's audio settings.
  • Rejoin the lobby — voice issues often clear on reconnect.

GPU Crash Dump & Graphics Issues

A "GPU crash dump triggered" error or graphics crashes usually point to driver or setting problems:

  • Run a clean driver install with Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) in Safe Mode, then install the newest driver from Nvidia or AMD. This clears corrupted shader caches and leftover registry entries.
  • Lower your graphics settings if the crash happens during heavy scenes — the 1.0 update added DLSS 4.5 support, so enable it if your GPU supports it.
  • Ensure your system meets the minimum requirements — DX12 and 35GB of storage are hard requirements.

Official Known Issues & Hotfixes

The developers track known issues on the official site. As of the launch week (August 13, 2026):

  • Known: Nvidia hitching (fixed by driver update); memory issues with heavily customized Responders in squads — the official advice is to avoid clothing with logos and patterns until fixed.
  • Hotfix #1: various crash fixes, server stability, controller scheme fixes.
  • Hotfix #2 (week of August 24): respawn fixes in Normal, more crash fixes, memory optimizations for low-end PCs and Xbox Series S, PS5 texture fixes.

For real-time status and the latest patches, check the updates page and the server status page.

Still stuck? Verify your specs on the System Requirements page, or check whether the servers are down — connection errors are sometimes just the network.
