No More Room in Hell 2 — Game Pass, Price & Console Subscription

No More Room in Hell 2 is not in the Xbox Game Pass catalog. It is a buy-to-play game at $29.99 / £24.99 / €29.99 (Deluxe $44.99) on every storefront. The one catch players miss: on Xbox consoles, online co-op still requires a separate Game Pass Core or Ultimate subscription even after you own the game. This page clears up the "do I need Game Pass?" question end to end.

Is NMRIH2 on Game Pass?

No. NMRIH2 is not a Game Pass day-one title and is not in the catalog at launch.

  • xbxprices aggregate listing: "No More Room in Hell 2 - Deluxe Edition is not currently in the Xbox Game Pass Premium or Ultimate game catalog — it is a paid purchase on the Microsoft Store."
  • TheXboxHub review: "Not Available on Game Pass Day One; Xbox Play Anywhere Enabled."
  • The Xbox store page itself lists the game as a paid purchase with no Game Pass entry point.

If Microsoft ever adds it to Game Pass later, that would be a separate announcement — treat anything saying "it's free on Game Pass now" as unverified until the Xbox store confirms it.

Xbox Console Play Requires a Subscription

This is the part that surprises new Xbox players. The Xbox store page states it plainly:

"Game requires online multiplayer subscription to play on console (Game Pass Core or Ultimate, sold separately)."

What that means in practice:

  • Xbox Series X|S: you bought the game, but online multiplayer (the entire 8-player co-op point of the game) needs Game Pass Core or Ultimate. Game Pass Core is the cheaper tier that covers online play; Ultimate adds Game Pass library access.
  • PlayStation 5: online co-op needs PlayStation Plus — same platform-subscription rule, different name.
  • PC (Steam / Epic): no subscription required. Buy once, play online, done.

Buying the game is not the same as subscribing to play it online on consoles. If a friend on Xbox says "I can't join," the missing piece is almost always the multiplayer subscription, not the game license.

Price & Editions

The game is buy-to-play with no subscription for the game itself.

EditionPriceWhat's included
Standard$29.99 / £24.99 / €29.99Base game, all modes, full crossplay
Deluxe$44.99Base game + 4 cosmetic packs (Veteran Survivor, First Responder, Punk is Life, Surplus Officer)

There are two in-game currencies, and neither is a paywall:

  • Credits — earned by extracting Supplies, spent on gear and loadouts.
  • Merits — earned free through Weekly Assignments, never purchasable. Used for cosmetic/unlock progression only.

So beyond the one-time purchase (and the console multiplayer sub), there is no ongoing cost to keep playing.

Where to Buy

All storefronts launched the game on August 11, 2026:

Crossplay & Cross-Progression

Crossplay: yes, full. PC (Steam and Epic), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S all share one matchmaking pool, so you can squad up with friends on any platform. For an 8-player co-op game this is the difference between filling a lobby fast and waiting.

Cross-progression: partial, Microsoft-ecosystem only. Because the Xbox version is Xbox Play Anywhere, your progress syncs between Xbox console and Windows PC (Microsoft Store). It does not carry over to Steam, Epic, or PlayStation — those are separate saves. If you plan to bounce between Xbox and PC, buy through the Microsoft Store / Xbox ecosystem to keep one save.

Buying and can't join co-op? On Xbox you still need Game Pass Core or Ultimate for online play even after purchase. See Getting Started for platforms and crossplay, or Modes Explained to pick your first game type.
